5* Gold Holiday Cottages in Cornwall
Changes ahead from the end of September 2015 at Little White Alice Gold Winner for Sustainable Tourism in Visit England Awards for Excellence 2014
Hidden in the heart of the Cornish countryside, Little White Alice is a unique private complex offering 5 Star Gold luxury but sustainable holidays in six beautifully furnished green cottages and 2 eco arks. It’s a place of wide open horizons and warm luxurious interiors, a place to embrace the rhythm and nature of the changing seasons throughout the whole year. How you do that is up to you. Curl up by the stove or stretch out in the sun by the natural swimming pool. Stroll barefoot in the willow gardens or stomp out into our own wilderness. Help us look after our growing collection of animals or get creative and crafty in our onsite artist's studio. Whether you hike, ride, or bike or simply want to sit still Little White Alice can cater for all. We offer high quality luxurious self catering accommodation indoors as well as a whole feast of outdoor experiences to tempt you into our expansive communal areas. Our cottages come in a range of sizes sleeping from 1-12 people and our shepherd's huts sleep 2-4. We welcome children of all ages. We also offer short breaks of 2 or more nights. Dogs are welcome in Nion (The Ash House), Beth (The Birch House) Fearn (The Alder House) and both our eco arks.
Our site aims to produce all its own energy and water so your holiday can be as green as possible. You can even plant a tree in our new woodland to help offset your journey to us.
Locally we are lucky to have the award winning pub The Golden Lion whose food and warm hospitality is well worth the gentle stroll to get there and a little further along the other direction is The Star Inn at Porkellis, a community based pub which is also home for a small shop. For the more active and especially those with children there is the up and coming Stithians Watersports Centre just on our doorstep with not only excellent facilities for a whole range of watersports but a brilliant play park, climbing wall and archery facilities. They also have the excellent Caffe Nova with superb coffees, cakes and light lunches. We also work closely with Explorer Cycles who will not only deliver bikes to your door for you to use for the duration of your stay but they will also take you out on guided tours of the Mineral Tramways.
Heartlands, the newly developed world heritage site with the biggest free cultural playground in the South West is just a few miles down the road from us offering adventures for all the family.
Further afield there is so much to explore in Cornwall and our website has a links to just a few of those favourite places.
Sustainability has always been at the heart of every decision we have made at Little White Alice. To create a more sustainable lifestyle for ourselves we have now taken the decision to remove all of our business debt which has been considerable. To do this we have had to sell off part of our business to a really lovely local family who will be moving up to Little White Alice at the end of September 2015. They will be living in the combined Oak and Hazel Houses and will be taking over ownershipship of our iconic natural swimming pool area.
What we will gain though is the ability to keep creating and to spend more time looking after and managing our land and animals without being held ransom to the bank man. What will be left for you might ask?
The Alder House (sleeps 2, accessible), The Ash House (sleeps 4) and our two Eco Arks (sleeps 2-4)
What will be new? Our gain will be a new Wild Spa area which we are already designing and hope to finish by the end of August. This will be created at the bottom of the celebration woods and will consist of a wood burning sauna, a wood burning hot tub, a meditation pool and a small sanctuary building which could be used for massage, meditation, yoga, or even small intimate weddings by the new poolside.
For now until the end of September 2015 it's business as usual with all facilities still open to our guests.
